The Georgia Rat & Mouse Club of America
~ Rescue & Adoption Center ~
The Georgia Rat & Mouse Club of America is a group of fellow rat and mouse enthusiast that have joined together to promote interest in pet rats and mice and to provide education and support for their proper care and responsible ownership. While the GARMCA is not a full time shelter, it offers some help for the placement of abandoned or surrender rats and mice into permanent loving homes. The ability for the GARMCA to take in surrender requests depends solely on the availability of time and resources as well as quarantine room and fostering homes. The GARMCA also operates solely on the generosity of its members and on donations. Phoenix Gate Rattery no longer takes in rescues.
Rats and mice listed below from the GARMCA shelter are available for adoption following a passing 1 month quarantine and evaluation for health and temperament suitability. Rescues that are available immediately from the current owner are not evaluated before the adoptions. While the GARMCA does not adopt out sick, injured or aggressive animals, no guarantee or warranty is endorsed by the GARMCA. If you need to surrender your rat or mice to the GARMCA rescue center or are interested in adopting a GARMCA rescue, please read our Rescue Policies. If you are surrendering your rats/mice then fill out the following Application For Surrender. We will contact you as soon as possible about possible availability for us to take them in. You may, however, simply ask to be listed on this available adoptions list without surrendering to the GARMCA. This is NOT a listing for breeders to list their litters or available animals. We currently do not have the resources to take in aggressive or biting rats and mice at this time.
For those interested in adoption of a GARMCA rescue rat or mouse: Please contact our rescue coordinator. Be sure to include what individuals your are interested in specifically or what you are looking for in general otherwise. You will be asked to fill out an application and be approved before you will be considered for adoption. You will also be asked to sign and abide by the GARMCA's pet only nonbreeding contract on adoption day.
~ Next Available Rescue Opportunity ~
There are currently many rats and mice that are looking for forever homes through the GARMCA rescue center. These rescues are usually up for immediate adoptions and placements. All available rescues are listed below along with as much information as we know and any photos if available. Take the time to scroll down through the available rescues and consider giving them a second chance.
