Treats are vital for us pet owners for the happiness or our ratties- well, really they just like them so much. Treats can often be used for rewards and in training/socialization. They can also be a reward for being so darn cute. Always feed your rat treats in moderation. There are many commerically available treats that can get expensive and last only a few minutes. But what are some treats that we can give them that are cheaper and perhaps a little healthier for them?
Animal Crakers
Sweet fruits like strawberries
Banana chips
Graham crakers
Yogurt drops
Yogurt covered raisins, cranberries, etc...
Avocado
Table scraps
Chewing Treats
These are offered to keep them occupied:
Chicken bones (cooked)
Nuts in their shell (macadamias, pecans and hazelnuts, almonds, etc...)
Baby teething rusks (vegetable-flavoured)
Dog biscuits ( only those low in protein and fat)
Greenies and Nylabones
Treat sticks of seed mixes or flavored wood
